So i'm doing loads of Vista troubleshooting tonight, working out all the kinks. Got the sound, internet, and video working mostly I think , but when I try to come back from low-power state standby or sleep mode, the computer freezes and my video goes all crazy.

I get lovely streaks of green, like my desktop was just hit by a grain shredder, and it won't function anymore - if I hit the power button it'll shut down and work fine when I turn it back up again. I updated the drivers, least I thought I updated the drivers, from nVidias website.

Any ideas? Its integrated GeForce graphics on the AM2 biostar board with the same name - by no means a gaming machine, just a cheaper workstation. What I did was do a system restore then started removing everything I downloaded from the time I remember it starting. You might not have to go that far. But I am sure there is a software that is causing this.

I'm unsure if you're running Vista 32 or 64 bit, so I've provided links for both. Graphics driver bit Graphics driver bit Chipset driver for both Network driver - for some reason the link isn't working, but just scroll down to "Vista and WinServer Auto Installation Program SID " and click any of the mirrors next to it to download the driver. Install those, reboot when requested, and see how you go.

Turning off sleep mode seems to do the trick. However, I would like to update the drivers as well to solve the problem.

I installed the chipset driver and network driver. Neither of these solved the problem. The graphics driver would not install on my computer I have a bit Vista by the way. An error message popped up that said "The driver being installed is not validated for this computer please obtain the appropriate driver from the manufacturer" Thanks for all the help, hopefully we can figure this out so I can use sleep mode again. Apologies for the late reply. Preferably connect to internet using cable instead of wireless helps windows connect to internet easier and find drivers if needed.

PCI bus? Right click and choose Uninstall. That will trigger reinstallation of the PCI Driver and some other drivers on your system. Windows will take care for most of them. Check afterwards your PC for sound and other hardware misbehaviors and install the driver for that device from device manager or the folder with downloaded drivers you? A horrible experiance?
