Some caregivers do not need a license, including informal parent cooperatives, and family, friends and neighbors who provide occasional care. DCYF adopts rules to set licensing requirements when directed by state law to set specific requirements to help clarify more general laws or help organize requirements that may be set by both state and federal laws.
Neither the Department of Children, Youth, and Families DCYF , the State of Washington nor any of its employees makes any warranty, express or implied, or assumes any legal liability or responsibility for the accuracy, completeness, or usefulness of any information, translation, product or process that is disclosed, displayed or appears on the DCYF website.
While DOH guidance is not a child care licensing rule, it is guidance for DCYF advising child care licensing regarding how to support child care providers ensuring healthy and safe environments for providers, children and their families.
